How is a spray tan by a therapist different to a misting booth?

Everywhere you look there are promises of a smooth flawless professional tan, but only one treatment can truly deliver: the spray tan by a therapist. Why?

Misting booths mean you have to contort your body within the booth to over each area.  One wrong twist by you can spell a double spraying (extra color) or no spray (no color). Using a technician that guides you through the process allows for custom control each and every time.

Spray tanning with a quality product and done by a trained therapist, gives you a precise tan, applied smoothly and equally. Special care can be given to problem areas such as knees, elbows and hair, giving you a tan that is natural and streak free.

Do I have to get naked?

No. It's entirely up to you. If you don't want to get naked, we suggest you wear old dark underwear or a swimming suit/bikini that you don't mind staining.  For men, boxers, swim trunks or shorts.  We offer both mens and ladies g string disposable underwear to use during your tanning service.

PRE AND POST CARE

Wear dark loose clothing as tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. You are best to go braless after your tan to avoid marks.

Remember to wear loose fitting shoes. If the skin is dry, ask your therapist for a barrier cream to block unwanted tanning areas like your feet and palms.

 

What do I need to do to prepare for my appointment?

• Exfoliate and moisturise 24 hours before your treatment, paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles and problem dry areas.

• It is highly recommended to have painted your nails and toenails, especially if they artificial.

• Wax/shave at least 48 hours prior to treatment. This allows the pores time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to.

• The entire 24 hours before your treatment avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products or in shower moisturisers.

• Please don’t apply moisturiser, perfume, deodorant or makeup on the day of your treatment.

• Wear dark loose clothing to your appointment. Tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. Wear loose fitting shoes.

What do I do when I get home?

The most important step after your spray tan is the shower process. After an hour (your therapist will advise if you can leave the product on longer), shower quickly with lukewarm water for 20 seconds only.

The brown bronzers will wash away, while tan actives continue to work and deepen. Do not use hot water.

It stops the development of tan actives during the development time. This is a common mistake people make, especially in the colder months. Once you shower, you can wear your favourite clothes, go out of the house and definitely not stain the bed sheets. Your tan will develop into a natural tan without the hassle of fake tan staining and smell.

What is my aftercare checklist

• Wear dark loose clothing. Tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. Wear loose fitting shoes.

• After one hour, shower quickly in lukewarm water for 20 seconds. Use plain water only, don’t use shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or loofah during the first 24 hours after your treatment.

• Pat dry after your first shower. Do not rub your skin. You can shower normally the next day or in 24 hours.

• Moisturise after your first normal shower. Continue to moisturise every day to keep body hydrated so the tan lasts. Fake tan will fade quickly on dry skin. Ask your therapist about our hydrating gradual tans to moisturise and extend the life of your tan.

• After day 5, exfoliate with a soft body polish on a daily basis, to help your skin absorb even more moisturiserand keep it looking and feeling gorgeous.
