IPL Skin Treatments

IPL Photorejvenation

IPL Photorejuvenation is a non-ablative procedure that uses intense pulse light to trigger a wound healing response. This process stimulates collagen and elastin production along with several of the skins self rejuvenating mechanisms to improve the signs of aging and improve skin texture and tone.  IPL photorejuvenation involves little downtime and generally requires 4 - 6 treatments, monthly, with maintenance treatments recommended every 3 - 6 months.

IPL Acne

IPL ance treatments target c. acnes bacteria, which thrives in an oxygen deprived environment and produce endogenic porphyrins. When these porphyrins abosrb blue light (from our IPL), free radical damage & oxygen is produced.  This new oxygenated environment destroys the bacteria & reduces the associated inflammation, assisting with the resolution of acne lesions.

Involving little downtime, depending on the severity, two treatments are recommended per week for the first 2 - 4 weeks. Maintenance can be performed weekly to monthly as required.

IPL Pigmentation Treatment

IPL pigmentation treatments target the melanin in the skin, heating and shattering the brown pigment. Damaged pigment is either removed via the lymphatic system or micro crusts on the surface of the skin and naturally sloughs off., resulting in a more even skin tone. Typically used to spot treat areas of pigmentation.  Light overall pigmentation is better treated with IPL rejuvenation or skin needling.  2 - 4 treatments are recommended at monthly intervals (face) or 6 - 8 week intervals for the decolletage, arms and back).  Maintenance treatments are recommended every six months to one year.

IPL Vascular Treatment

IPL is used to target haemoglobin in the skin, heating and damaging unwanted vessels. Damaged vessels are then removed via the lymphatic system resulting in a more even skin tone. Typically this treatment is used to spot treat vessels on the face and upper body.  Generalised flushing (where individual vessels are not seen) are better treated with IPL photorejuvenation or skin needling.  Typically 2 - 4 treatments are recommended at 1 - 2 week intervals, with maintenance recommended every 3 - 6 months.
